This site is a PLL, Personal Learning Landscape. It has the lofty ambition to be your primary academic site during your time as a psychology major at Canisius.
Here are some options for getting started:
- First, if you haven't already done so, create an account and log in. Please use your First and Last names as your username (e.g., Mary Smith).
- Check the existing documentation on the wiki pages for help info.
- Start adding to the site by Creating New Content .
Some of the functionality within this site includes:
- a personal workspace;
- a group workspace;
- the ability for site members to create informal working groups;
- the ability to create formal class spaces;
- podcasting;
- wiki functionality;
- personal and class blogs;
- rss feeds for the entire site, individual courses, individual terms, and individual users;
- personal image galleries;
- personal file repositories;
- the ability to create private, invitation-only groups;
- social bookmarking, with searching within bookmark descriptions;
- spam protection;
- configurable user profiles with searchable text descriptions;
- the ability to create lists of "friends" among site members;
This site has the potential to act like a Facebook for the academic world. Learning is enhanced by sharing, and that's the big strength of the PLL. You can join with others who share interests and expand each other's knowledge. You can also share within formal academic courses. The potential is there, but realizing it will take some effort. There are bound to be startup pains. If you can't figure out how to do something, contact Dr. Bayer at djbayer@canisius.edu or 888-2521.
